What is self esteem in simple words?

According to Wikipedia, Self-esteem is the way people think about themselves, and how worthwhile they feel. Psychologists use the word self-esteem to describe whether someone likes them self or not. ... Someone with low self-esteem might think that they are bad at things and worthless.

When you feel good about yourself, , the only person you compete with is you. There is no other standard - you are not better than anyone one else nor are they better than you.

True, you have different talents and abilities than others. You may have honed them to a professional level - that's wonderful - and any recognition you receive is great. If you do it only to please others and not yourself, it's a hollow victory.

Learn to like yourself, learn to love yourself; you have everything within you to be a success in your own eyes. This is your life and no one else can live it for you.

Be proud of who you are and what you have accomplished so far. Be the best at what you do. Find joy each day in the little things and you will find beauty in everything.
